Annual Meeting/Elections Nov 16 – Absentee Ballot

October 15, 2015

We will hold our annual meeting and elections on November 16 at Patrick’s in Westport at or about 7 p.m.  You can come earlier for dinner (on your own).

On July 20, the membership voted in favor of three proposed changes to our by-laws:
1.  Article II, Section 4 which now allows notification of meetings via electronic means – proposal passed 53 in favor, 2 against, 3 withheld
2.  Article III, Section 2, Paragraph D which now allows for the secretary to notify the membership of elections via electronic means and that the notification may take the form of a link to an online voting service – proposal passed 53 in favor, 2 against, 3 withheld
3.  Article IX which now allows for the amendment of by-laws via electronic means and that the notification may take the form of a link to an online voting service – proposal passed 53 in favor, 2 against, 3 withheld

Beginning with this election we are electronically mailing an absentee ballot to those members with an email address (as supplied by SCCA National) or a postcard with a link to the online copy of the absentee ballot (on our website) to those who have only supplied a mailing address.  Absentee ballots must be received by November 10, 2015 due to the federal postal holiday the next day (and the requirement per the by-laws that states absentee ballots shall be returned no later than five days before the election).

Absentee ballots should be mailed to:
Steve Burkett
610 Tuxedo
St. Louis, MO  63119-1845
Future correspondence will come in electronic form, please supply a valid email address.

All four officer positions are up for election to a one-year term.  The candidates are:

R.E. – Jose Hernandez and Peter Zekert
Asst. R.E. – Jose Hernandez and Peter Zekert
Secr. – Sam Lee and Eileen Waters
Treas. – Sam Lee and Eileen Waters
Two of the five At-Large Director positions are up for a two-year term.  They will join Charlene Lain, Steve Hamilton, and Steve Slotten who have one year remaining on their two-year terms.  The candidates are:
At-Large – Jim Heine and Chuck Udell
Officer nominees who are NOT elected will automatically become candidates to fill At-Large Director vacancies.  Since the outcome of the officer voting will not be known until all ballots are counted at the Annual Meeting, the vote for At-Large Directors can only be held at the Annual Meeting.
Every member 16 years old or older and in good standing is entitled to vote for the slate of Officers and Board of Directors candidates.  Proxy votes are not permitted.  If your household received a postcard and you have more than one member without an email address on file at National who meets the voting requirements, they may print and submit a ballot to vote absentee.
Note:
Street Survival School participants automatically receive a one-year family membership compliments of SCCA National.   Therefore, they are receiving notification of the annual meeting and elections and may vote if they meet the voting requirements.
