BIOS

Lee Hanson (RE) – I have 2 Years on the Board as member at large and am Chairman of the Solo Advisory Committee.  I function as the on-site physician for all Solo events and am a licensed Solo Safety Stewart. I’ve actively participated in Club Racing (2008 – my son won Mid Am Championship for GT Lite) and Solo and have a strong interest in supporting all of the programs in our region and working with our neighboring regions.

Diane Prokopf (RE) – I have been a member since 1993 with my other four family members, two of which are still active.  I now hold, and have held in the past, different positions within the StL club as well as MiDiv.  I am running for Regional Executive again.  I feel that the first year is learning the position and what is involved, and the next year utilizing what has been learned.

Janice Rick (Asst. RE) – My name is Janice Rick and I am seeking election to the office of Assistant RE for the St. Louis Region SCCA Board of Directors.  I have previously served the Region as RE and as a member at Large.  I have served the regions programs in a number of roles.  I have served or are currently serving on the Club Racing committee, the Solo Advisory Committee and the PDX Program Committee.  I served on the National Time Trial Committee for several years and am currently on the National Solo Safety Committee.  I serve the Mid West Division as the Solo Safety Steward and I have been the Chairman of the Mid West Executive Committee for the past two years.

I understand the inner workings of SCCA on a National, Divisional and Regional level.  I am familiar with all of our regions fine programs.  I am a passionate cheerleader for SCCA and the St. Louis Region.  As a Board Member, I would like to bring my experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to the board to help further the communications in the region and amongst the programs.  As a Business professional in my “day job”, I understand the meaning of delivering value to the customer and efficiently running a business.  I hope to share my passion for the members of SCCA and to provide an overall better product (our programs and membership value).  I look forward to serving the entire St. Louis Region SCCA membership for 2010 and I would appreciate your vote.

April Schnardthorst (Asst. RE) – I would love to become the next Assistant RE for the St. Louis Region because I have a passion for the wonderful sport of Autocross and would like to see improvements and growth all around.  I bring to the position skills in running my own business, bookkeeping and record-keeping for mine and several other businesses, plus experience in running a group of volunteers in another organization.

My experience with other volunteer organizations has proven that commitment is a necessity in every situation.  I think business practices are needed to some extent, with respect maintained to the “volunteer” status of all involved.  I am committed to my volunteer roles as much as my business and personal roles.  I am committed to this organization to make it fun and not only increase our numbers, but increase our retention of new participants.

I have been Chief of Registration for the Solo events for the past year and a half during which time I have made improvements to the process and team to help get the events started as efficiently as possible and reduce live-race problems with timing and scoring.  I plan to remain Chief of Registration for 2010.  I work well with others and look forward to the opportunity to make many more friends next year.

If I am elected, my goals include the following specific items, but I have many more ideas that I hope to bring to the attention of the Board of Directors.

  1. Communicate with the members monthly via an emailed newsletter.
  2. Communicate via a region website at www.stlscca.org .  Some type of SCCA News will be posted at a minimum of every 2 weeks.
  3. Communicate to the members on the meetings of the Board of Directors by posting the minutes of these meetings to the website each month within 30 days of each Board Meeting.
  4. Meet with the St. Louis Region Program Managers on a monthly basis and discuss their programs with all members of the St. Louis Region Board of Directors.  These discussions will include, but not be limited to:  planning, fiscal accountability and communications with the region and other programs.
  5. Report the program news to the members via the email newsletter.
  6. Research the idea of a St. Louis Region Roster with members that are interested in possiblily performing the work of this project.  If there are members interested in helping with this project, guiding them on the needed privacy issues to see if a roster of Region members can be produced for the members.  Report this research to the members via the email newsletter.
  7. Manage the programs and the business of the St. Louis Region SCCA while in office.

David Schnardthorst (Secretary) – I would like to take on the role of the next Secretary for the St. Louis Region because I love to race with the Solo group and would like to see improvements and growth all around.  I bring to the position skills in running my own business, working with small and mid-sized businesses throughout St. Louis and experience in managing volunteers in other organizations.  I also am responsible for providing and maintaining the overall budget not only in my own businesses but in other not-for-profit organizations  I believe these skills will allow us to continue the excellent programs here in the St. Louis Region, as well as find ways to provide a better balanced budget for the Club as a whole so we can continue to provide as many opportunities to race as possible.

My experience with other volunteer organizations has proven that commitment is necessity in every situation.  I thing business practices are needed to some extent, with respect maintained to the “volunteer” status of all involved.  I am committed to my volunteer rolese as muchas as business and personal roles.  I am committed to this organization to make it fun and not only increase our numbers, but increase our retention of new participants.

I have been Co-Chief of IT for the Solo events for the past two years during which time I have not only fulfilled my duties but gone beyond to make every event a success.  I have also chaired several Solo Events.  I plan to remain Co-Chief of IT for 2010.  In addition, I have been a member of SAC for three years now and will continue in that role as well, providing additional synergy for the club.  I look forward to the opportunity to continue to make the St. Louis Region the best region around.

If I am elected, my goals include the following specific items:

Lynn Wilson (Secretary) – Hi, I’m Lynn Wilson.  This is my second iteration with the SCCA.  In the 70’s, I was a member of the Colorado Region and held a National Flagging and Communications license.  I was also a member of a now defunct small sports car club in Southern Colorado and participated in autocross.  My friends and I also owned a short track stock car tem and race at several tracks in 1980 when I accepted a position with the Defense Department as a geodetic surveyor.  The job required extensive travel around the world and I had to end my motor sports activities for the next 23 years.

I transferred to a new position in 2003.  I am now an orbit analyst with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.  My office monitors the health and integrity of the GPS satellite constellation.  Since I no longer spend months on the road, I now have the time to return to the SCCA.  I started Soloing with the region in late 2003.  I have been on the Solo Activities Committee for several years and have been a member of the PDX Committee for two years.  I hold several licenses for both activities.  I have a Solo Vee, but it is currently not assembled while it is being modified to take advantage of recent rule changes.  So, I am usually seen in a Subaru STi borrowed from generous friends.  At a PDX, you’ll find me on the flag stand, after inspecting the course.  I’ll be working on getting a Steward’s license for PDX.

I believe the experience I have gained from participating in three of our programs gives me the insight to offer some new ideas to help the Region move forward.

Kaylee Hanson (Treasurer) – I have been a member of the St Louis Region for 3 years and have been on the Solo Advisory committee for 2 years.  I am also the Worker Chief.  I have a passion for St. Louis Motorsports and enjoy putting my time into helping the Region grow.

Jeff Leavell (Treasurer) – I have been a member of St. Louis Region since 2003 and have served as Treasurer since January 2008.  I will be pleased to serve another term as Treasurer.

Susan Anderson (Member-at-large): I’ve been a member of SCCA since 1970.  I’ve held a national license in Flagging & Communications, working corners at many Midwest tracks, and I also worked Race Control at MAR.  I’m a Solo Nationals 100%er (this year was #37) and 9-time National Champion.  Beyond that, I want the best for the future of Saint Louis Region and will put my efforts towards that goal.

Jose Hernadez (Member-at-large): No bio provided.

Steve Slotten (Member-at-large): Sports cars have been a life long interest of mine. In 1978, I joined  the SCCA and became actively involved in both the Autocross  and Club Racing programs.  I have competed at the local, divisional and national levels. I served as Pit Marshall for five years at both MAR and St Louis International Raceway.  In 1995, I took a hiatus from racing so that I could concentrate on activities with my children.  I managed and coached their athletic teams.  Since rejoining the SCCA in 2005, I have participated in the RallyCross events at the local, divisional and national levels.  I have also worked the 100 Acre Wood Rally when it was a SCCA Pro Rally event and the last three 100 Acre Wood Rally-America events.  I retired from Lucent Technologies in 2005 after 35 years in telecommunications.  I have lived in the Florissant-North County area for 37 years.

Bruce Stephens (Member-at-large): I joined SCCA in 2004. I have been involved with Solo off & on since 2004.  I was a committee member for Club racing for 1 year.  I have been part of the PDX committee for 3 years.  I have been a Instructor for the PDX program for 2 years.  I have worked around Club racing for about 4 years.  I have owned an auto repair shop for 20 years.
