SCCA Launches All-New Website

TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 13, 2011) – Sports Car Club of America, Inc. has launched an all-new website at www.scca.com.

Working with renowned motorsports web developer RACERSITES, the all-new site has been built to both address the needs of current members and potential members.

“Our site needs to serve two core groups—current members and potential members,” SCCA President and CEO Jeff Dahnert said. “Both groups require a lot of the same information but presented in a different fashion.”

The first time a user visits scca.com, they will see a page geared toward someone that might not be familiar with the organization, providing overall information and giving a tour of the club. For the general membership and advanced users looking for specific news or information, the SCCA Tour page can be closed, taking you to the full site. The Tour page will not appear again for a period of time, unless the user requests it in the main site.

The main SCCA site contains news, event and membership information, rules, forms and downloads, multimedia links as well as social media feeds from Facebook and Twitter.

“The goal of the new site was to make the information our members want easier to find and in a less cluttered fashion,” Dahnert said. “Some website re-designs completely change the navigation, requiring the user to start from scratch. We built on the things that worked well and attempted to address those that didn’t. Members can still find the items they are looking for in the same way, but there are now multiple ways to get to that information. For instance, there is now a ‘Downloads’ button as well as a robust search function, right on the front page.

“Like any website, things will be tweaked and added to increase usability. It is a fluid entity, and while we have done extensive testing both internally and with a member-based focus group, we know that with a project of this magnitude, a glitch may pop up every now and then. That said, we’re very excited about the fresh new SCCA.com.”

“With an intensely passionate community of competitors and members, SCCA was looking to provide its constituents with a more robust experience to share and gather information digitally,” RACERSITES CEO Chuck Tate said. “We’ve armed the organization with a platform and tools that allow for increased interactivity and a greater ability to connect sports car fans and drivers across the nation.”

The new site is available just in time for the 2011 SCCA National Championship Runoffs. The site will include links to live timing throughout the event, news, results and live webcast information.
