Now: Final Opportunity to Register for STL Labor Day RoadRally Weekend

Our Gateway Labor Day RoadRally weekend (http://msreg.com/Gateway2025) is just a week away. If you haven’t done so already, now is the time to register for the rallies. You have three (four, actually) St. Louis Region road-rallies to choose from.

Think of the weekend this way:

  • Friday evening—Tulips by Night Divisional Touring Rally (or “A Little Night Adventure”), an evening Monte-Carlo-Style Touring rally.
  • Saturday afternoon: Lewis Carroll’s Twins: Tweedledee Divisional Touring Rally or Tweedledum Divisional Course Rally. Think “School Daze Revisited” here. Choose a Touring version or a Course version of the rally. Both are based on rallymaster Tom vonHatten’s routes from last year’s St. Louis Region summertime Rally School series. (If you ran last year’s rallies, considering Saturday’s offerings a road-rally refresher course is not out of line.)
  • Sunday afternoon. “Milburn Pennybags Presents” Divisional GTA Rally, aka “Boardgame Fun,” another nod to Monopoly® by rallymaster Tom vonHatten.

Headquarters for our weekend is Columbia, Ill., a hop, skip, and jump across the river from the Gateway Arch.

Here’s a more formal summary of the weekend:

  • Friday evening, Aug. 29: Tulips by Night Divisional Touring Rally. First car off 6:31 p.m. Rallymaster: Jim Heine.
  • Saturday afternoon, Aug. 30: Lewis Carroll’s Twins: Tweedledee Divisional Touring Rally or Tweedledum Divisional Course Rally. You choose which rally you would like to run. First car off 12:31 p.m. Rallymaster: Tom vonHatten.
  • Sunday afternoon, Aug 31: “Milburn Pennybags Presents” Divisional GTA Rally. First car off 12:31 p.m. Rallymaster: Tom vonHatten.

Each of the rallies departs from Columbia—Friday evening from The Principal Hotel on Main Street and Saturday and Sunday from City Hall, also on Main Street.

What’s the difference between a St. Louis Region Divisional RoadRally and a St. Louis Region Regional RoadRally? you might ask if you’re new to rallying or returning after a long hiatus. The answer: It’s length and duration, not difficulty or complexity. Most St. Louis Region Regional road rallies are about 60 miles long and/or two hours in duration. SCCA Divisional rallies, such as our Labor Day weekend rallies, must be at least 90 miles long for Touring and Course rallies and three hours duration for GTA rallies. Bottom line: If you ran one or more of our Regional road-rally events last year, or in 2022 or 2023, and especially if you ran last year’s Rally School series, or even this past July’s GTA rally, you will find our Labor Day rallies familiar, just an hour or so longer. If you’re new to rallying, or have not participated in a long time, you will find our Friday and Saturday Touring rallies, as well as our Sunday GTA (sign hunt) road rally, an enjoyable introduction, or reintroduction, to the sport.

Please join us. Register now for one, two, or all three Labor Day weekend rallies at http://msreg.com/Gateway2025. There you will find more information about the weekend also.
